Marketplace site gives restaurants access to approved vendors that provide outdoor setups compliant with new outdoor dining requirementsOn May 6th, 2024 the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) launched a new website “Dining Out NYC Marketplace”.  Marketplace is meant to connect restaurant owners with approved vendors that provide products and services compliant with NYC’s permanent “Dining Out” program.

Important Dates:

  • Food service establishments that currently have an outdoor dining structure under the city’s temporary dining guidelines, must apply by August 3rd, 2024 to continue operating.
  • Restaurants with existing setups that do not apply for Dining Out NYC, must remove their setups from the roadway by August 3rd, 2024.
  • Restaurants have 30 days from the date their application is approved or by November 1st, 2024, whichever is earlier to comply with new Dining Out requirements.

To comply with the permanent program, all outdoor dining structures must:

  • be open air instead of enclosed;
  • be easily movable;
  • be accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities;
  • have floors made of durable, nonabsorbent materials that are easy to clean;
  • be rodent proof.

“Dining Out NYC Marketplace”

The “Dining out NYC Marketplace” website was created by the City to make compliance with the new rules easier for food service establishments. Providing access to approved vendors was meant to be a helpful resource. Using “Marketplace” is completely optional. Food service establishments may choose to source vendors, products, and services on their own.
